Full Job Description

The Digital Information Directorate within the Crown Prosecution Service are developing a new capability and function for strategic workforce planning. Your role will be lead and develop that function utilising your experience and technical skills in this area.
You will provide strategic workforce planning expertise to ensure the Digital Information Directorate has the appropriate people, capacity and skills to deliver the services required currently and in the future. You will own and maintain artifacts that inform decision making on recruitment and work assignment priorities. You will support DID to ensure the digital workforce can meet our objectives over the next five years aligned to the CPS 2030 strategy.
The directorate has circa 280 staff and has plans to grow and further align the digital directorate to government functional standards.
You work closely with the digital finance team to ensure digital FTE budgets align to the strategic workforce plan. You will provide support to track and track/monitor people movements across cost-centres.
The Crown Prosecution Service is based in England and Wales. If you're applying for this role and live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you must let us know when accepting this offer as you need permission to work from your home address if hybrid working is part of your role. There's no guarantee that we will grant this approval.
You must be aged 16 before starting in this role. The start date is expected to be 8-12 weeks after the application deadline.
As part of this role, you are expected to undertake direct line management responsibilities., Your roles and responsibilities:
+ You lead & develop the Strategic Workforce planning capability/function and team within the digital directorate. You are also be part of a workforce planning community within the CPS.
+ You identify capability and capacity gaps in digital deliverables and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
+ You develop and implement processes to ensure the data integrity in relation to people and present information and recommendations to senior leaders to inform decision making.
+ You and your team lead recruitment activity within the directorate. You work closely with CPS strategic workforce planning to develop recruitment campaigns and strategies that led to successful outcomes.
+ You track and manage the status of each member of DID plus develop a skills matrix to inform resource allocation to activities.

Personal statement
We ask you to complete a personal statement of no more than 750 words outlining how you meet the below essential experience:
+ strong strategic workforce planning skills, with knowledge and experience of designing resourcing plans to ensure the right workforce is mobilised at the right time, with the ability to understand, marshal and interpret a wide range of abstract concepts, ideas and sets of information, to draw conclusions and make recommendations
+ expertise of end to end workforce planning and strategic deployment and able to demonstrate practical application of a variety of resourcing methods. You also understand risks, issues, mitigation and trends within resource and workforce planning.
+ strong drafting and analytical skills, including the ability to derive insight from multiple data sources, use data to support debate, conduct statistical analysis, and solve complex problems, able to draft and present complex data and analysis in a visually accessible way.
+ understanding of a range of data management principles and comfortable operate in a data-led environment. Also able to collate data and summarise through reports to senior stakeholders.
+ expertise of end to end workforce planning and strategic deployment and able to demonstrate practical application of a variety of resourcing methods. You also understand risks, issues, mitigation and trends within resource and workforce planning.
Behaviours
You are also asked to complete a statement of no more than 250 words setting out how you consider your personal skills, qualities and experience match the specified behaviours and requirements. In addition, you need to demonstrate the Crown Prosecution Service or Civil Service values.

The panel has the right to assess the personal statement based on essential experience first. If the standard on this isn't met, the behaviour won't be considered and your application won't progress. The panel also has the right to raise the minimum standard pass mark. The panel may also refer to essential experience at the interview stage to determine merit order.
You also need to demonstrate the Crown Prosecution Service or Civil Service values.
Interview
We use behaviours to help us understand your experience, to see if you're a good fit for the role. You are assessed against Grade 7 in the Civil Service success profiles behaviours framework. We are assessing 4 behaviours at interview stage.

CV

This is a full-time post. We do consider requests for flexible, part-time working and job share, always considering the operational needs of the department.
Clearance
If successful, you are required to secure a Disclosure and Barring Service check, for which you must have a current valid UK address.
If successfully appointed, we ask you to complete a character enquiry form and nationality and immigration questionnaire.
If you're a Crown Prosecution Service member of staff, you won't need to do a Disclosure and Barring Service check as you already hold this clearance.

Reserve list
If you're recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy, you're put on a reserve list for 12 months. You may be offered another Head of Strategic Workforce Planning post in the Digital and Information Division if a vacancy comes up during this period. We may also approach candidates on the waiting list to fill other roles that require similar knowledge and experience.
