Full Job Description

Job Summary: Under supervision work within specified research grants and/or projects, to undertake research, conducting and recording the outcome of experiments and fieldwork and conducting literature and database surveys. Provide administrative support and contribute to the preparation of results for internal/external audiences. The appointed person will be expected to support and contribute to the Society of Legal Scholars and LJMU-funded research project titled, "The Climate Crisis and the Teaching of Law: Who? What? How?" They will work with the Principal Investigators, Richard Ridyard and Dr Alison Lui, in the School of Law on four key elements of the project: 1. Developing an online survey about the teaching of climate change and policy in UK Law Schools; 2. Compiling a list/database of every academic in UK Law Schools; 3. Circulating the survey to every academic in UK Law Schools and tracking progress e.g., response rates; and 4. Analysing the survey data and disseminating the results. Please note, applicants do not need any prerequisite knowledge or experience in Climate Change., Research

  • Undertake the collection research data; this may be through a variety of research
  • methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
  • Ensure that full and accurate documentation is kept for all work and ensure that all
  • policies and processes, including quality assurance, are maintained and adhered to.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of papers for presentation at regional, national
  • or international conferences and for publication in peer review journals.
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to the delivery of the research, planning work to
  • agreed specifications, time and quality standards.
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and
  • deadlines
  • Maintain high standards of academic and commercial confidentiality. Comply with
  • relevant protocols regarding data confidentiality and security.
  • Develop skills in relevant research methodologies.
  • Attend and contribute to research/subject group meetings.
  • Engage with and participate in the University's appraisal process as reviewer and/or
  • reviewee, as appropriate.

  • Post Specific Duties
  • To support and contribute to Society of Legal Scholars and LJMU-funded research

The main duties and responsibilities for the post include (please note that this is not an exhaustive list): Support the online survey development Help write of the research ethics application Help put together the questions for the survey Compile a list/database of UK law academics Circulate the survey to every academic in UK Law Schools Track response rates Help promote the survey and encourage academics to engage with it Analyse survey data Quantitatively analyse questionnaire Provide administrative and organisational support Support the development of outputs

Both paid and unpaid experience may be relevant., A good honours degree (at least Upper Second) or equivalent Application form and in Law or a related subject area.
