Full Job Description
This role is to teach GCSE English and Functional Skills to our KS3/KS4 students. Students have a variety of learning needs and learn in small groups. We are looking for a person to teach in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner, to raise engagement and drastically improve the outlook of student's educational journey. you will be at the heart of our mission, teaching a small group of learners and delivering a creative curriculum that captivates and inspires. The role would suit a teacher with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can inspire others. Many of our young people present with challenging behaviour, and we are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong empathy and ability to intrinsically connect with pupils with complex SEMH needs.,
- Teach and Inspire: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons to a small group of learners, fostering a love for learning.
- Support Reintegration: Assist in reintegrating pupils back into mainstream schools, ensuring they receive the support they need and equipping them with the skills they need to be successful.
- Collaborate with Agencies: Work closely with educational psychologists, SEN coordinators, and other external agencies to support pupil progress.

- Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a secondary school, secondary pupil referral unit or special school
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience of teaching challenging pupils.

Oakfield Short Stay School is Leicestershire's provision for primary school aged children who have been permanently excluded from school. We are expanding the age range of Oakfield School and as a result we are recruiting teaching staff. Our Secondary Inclusion Partnership staff who currently put provision in place for secondary aged children and young people who have been excluded from school, or who are at risk of this, are also joining the team. You will be part of a vital team in an exciting period of development, working with us to meet the needs of children and young people between the ages of 11 and 16 who struggle to manage in mainstream and need a different offer of education to secure their successful next steps.
