Full Job Description
Head of Economics MPS/UPS Part Time 0.4 or 0.6 TLR2c (£3400) Starting September 2025 The Grey Coat Hospital is seeking to recruit an outstanding teacher into a very successful and high performing department. The Grey Coat Hospital, founded in 1698, is a Church of England school for girls aged eleven to eighteen with a mixed Sixth Form. The historic foundation of the school and its current ethos are rooted in a confident and generous Christian faith and practice, which welcomes students and staff of all backgrounds and beliefs. The school is situated in the heart of central London close to excellent transport links. We are a heavily oversubscribed comprehensive school for girls with excellent GCSE results. In 2024, 93.7% of students attained 5+ subjects overall including 9-4 in English and Mathematics. 56.3% of all grades attained in all subjects at KS4 were 9-7 and our overall pass rate at grades 9-4 was 95.9%. Our students regularly achieve outstanding results at GCSE and A Level which puts The Grey Coat Hospital in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally. Most of our students transfer into our sixth form where we have over 300 students on roll. We offer 21 subjects with the Extended Project Qualification at its core. The Grey Coat Hospital, when last inspected, was judged to be 'outstanding' by OFSTED in October 2022. In 2020, the School achieved 'excellent' in the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. We are proud of our ethos of continued self-improvement, which characterises every aspect of our culturally diverse school. The school is committed to building on our passion for excellent teaching and learning as well as continuing to place an emphasis on our language specialism and international ethos. We are looking for someone who will:
- Be an enthusiastic, inspiring and creative teacher
- Have excellent subject knowledge
- Be able to commit and contribute to the continuing success of the department and the school
- Be able to, effectively and confidently, teach Economics to A Level. The school has an excellent programme of support for all new staff and is committed to professional development. We actively encourage teachers to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for all posts. For further information including an advert, job description and application form, please refer to the links on our website www.gch.org.uk. Please address any additional queries to: recruitment@gch.org.uk. Interviews will take place in the week beginning Monday 16th June 2025 Closing date for applications: Monday 16th June 2025 at 09:00am The Greycoat Hospital reserves the right to close the application process early is a suitable candidate is found.
