Full Job Description
Successful candidates will work across educational settings and provisions, alongside advisory teachers, to support inclusive practices for pupils with SEN.Specialist learning support officers undertaking the outreach role to mainstream schools will be asked to run groups, modelling good practice, undertaking pupil observations and assessments that contribute towards the graduated response to SEND. In addition this may include support to resource provisions, who educate pupils with an EHCP.Successful candidates work within the central cluster teams covering the Normanton, Featherstone and South East area of the district.We are looking for a motivated individual who can provide excellent support to students with complex needs. This may be delivering learning/interventions to groups/individuals with complex needs. This may be supporting pupils to access mainstream lessons.We are looking for candidates with knowledge and experiences of:
- Pupils with identified needs of ASC/Social communication, Social emotional mental health, Learning needs.
- The ability to complement the professional work of teachers in the service, taking responsibility for agreed learning activities, under an agreed system of supervision.
- The ability to provide specialist support and advice to pupils, schools, families and other agencies with respect to children and young people with additional needs.
- Who can be responsible for the management and development of agreed specialist interventions under guidance and/or management of other non-specialist support staff including assistance with monitoring of work, appraisal and training.
- Who can promote and support the achievement of all children through work with officers, agencies, schools, families and pupils where support is required to ensure inclusion of needs.
