Full Job Description

This apprenticeship will last for a duration of 24 months. The training is delivered by Northumberland Skills and you will be required to attend training at Morpeth Leisure Centre, NE61 1SR. What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis The Parking Services apprentice will carry out the initial administrative functions and tasks for the back-office team. You will print and prepare letters for posting, manage the incoming post, scan challenges on to the bespoke parking software system. You will co-ordinate the resident permit scheme, processing all permits and dealing with queries using the bespoke permit system and will look after the stock of discs and parking stationery. There is an element of cash handling, and you will process incoming cheques payments and take payments over the telephone. When confident in the role you can take calls from the public regarding resident/visitor parking permits offering advice and resolving queries. You will be an integral part of the parking services team offering and receiving support from the team. Background on department Parking Services manages the Councils off-street car parks and carries out enforcement of the Traffic Regulation Orders and parking restrictions both on street and off street. There is a team of 19 Civil Enforcement Officers and team of 10 back-office staff. The service also manages and delivers a range of other services such as the resident and county wide permit schemes, dispensations and suspensions, filming and events in our car parks and towns, the disc parking scheme, busgate and camera enforcement and our team of school Crossing Patrols.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and expand their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience. Likes to work as part of a team, on a variety of tasks with short deadlines. To be able to work on their own where relevant.,

  • Maths and English GCSE (or Equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above
  • Familiar with IT systems, eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
