We offer a range of learning and development for all employees may you be clinical or non-clinical., Preparation of internal and external paint surfaces, inclusive of washing down, paint stripping, filling and sanding in clinical and non-clinical areas (internal and external). Stripping and removing wallpapers. Carry out minor plasterwork repairs. Removal of fixtures and fittings to facilitate decoration. Reaffix on completion. Room clearance, manoeuvring of heavy items of furniture and equipment. Sheeting over to protect surfaces, equipment, goods and furniture. Application of various paint coatings and stains, some of which are specialist by nature, using brush, roller and spray techniques, including Porta Flex. Preparation of internal wall papered surfaces and application of various paper finishes, inclusive of wide roll vinyl based decorative coverings. Preparation of dry lining finishes and coatings, including joint filling and taping for direct decoration to plaster boarding. Application of textured paint coatings to internal walls and ceilings and external rendered coatings. Application of specialist paint finishes to external metal work, inclusive of rust treatments, aluminium coatings, and epoxy based finishes. Application of specialist floor coatings. Re-glazing operations and making good putty, mastics and glazing compounds when painting or undertaking repair work. Line marking of roadways and flooring, to include the application of stencil road markings, line, symbols using spray line and traffic paint. Sign writing. Qualified to erect and dismantle tower scaffold and operate access platforms. Erect safety barriers and signage. Ensure safe storage of materials, tools and equipment in accordance with COSHH and departmental rules., To be able to read, understand and interpret information provided in the form of technical manuals, specifications and drawings, making use of that information in the pursuit of maintenance and application of finished paint, paper, specialist coatings and various fabric products. Measuring and setting out for painting and decorating designs and finishes. Liaise with clinical staff at ward/department level regarding maintenance tasks, enabling work tasks to be carried out with minimum disruption to patient support services and patient care. Act in an appropriate manner reflecting the area the work is being undertaken within e.g. ITU/Theatres. Working in locations where there is a heightened infection control risk such as isolation rooms, Pathology etc, where there is a far greater personal risk from contaminated systems and equipment. Conduct work duties in an unobtrusive manner, ensuring clinical and departmental staff are made aware in the locality of any disruption or potential noise etc, to ensure minimum distress levels to patients. Works flexibly to complete essential maintenance and emergency repairs which may have to be completed outside of contracted hours and takes responsibility for own actions in the absence of Team Leaders/Estates Officers. Play an active part in the mentoring of craft apprentices and maintenance assistants and to exchange knowledge and information with other trades, as and when necessary. To participate in training programmes required to maintain standards of work and knowledge with regard to modernisation of working practices and technical developments.
- City & Guilds Craft certificate/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. Indentured Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship, Evidence of significant CPD Healthcare building related CPD Knowledge of building construction, Good all round knowledge of painting & decorating, Previous experience of working within the NHS., Ability to work as part of a team, Ability to manage difficult/stressful situations and conversations.
