PERSONAL ASSISTANT


SOMETHING ABOUT ME


I'm a young teenage girl living in Llanharan with my parents. I enjoy listening to music especially musicals and songs from Mama Mia and I love listening to songs by The Killers. Other interests include making arts and crafts; I have a keen interest in technology, phone apps and design apps. I am a very sociable girl and enjoy other people's company and don't like being on my own. When out in the community I enjoy shopping, going to the cinema and playing ten pin bowling. When in the house I enjoy baking, watching tv and playing board and card games. I am a full-time powerchair user.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB



  • To help and support me with all my physical and social needs

  • Provide respite for my parents


HOURS OF WORK


16 hours per month, flexibility is essential


RATE OF PAY


£14.75 per hour


TASKS CAN INCLUDE



  • Hoisting/manual handling

  • Working alongside a second PA because I need 2:1 support

  • Toileting including intimate care

  • Helping me with my physical needs

  • Ensuring I am comfortable when using my wheelchair etc

  • To support me to do things I enjoy doing

  • Take me out to do things I enjoy doing

  • Feeding (mickey feed)

  • Plan and organise what activities I will be doing each week

  • Females due to some personal care

  • Outgoing and chatty

  • Being able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively

  • Patient and understanding of my needs

  • Experience of looking after children

  • Organised and able to plan my schedule for me

  • Flexible

  • Driver essential; confident to drive a mobility van


ABOUT THE JOB


This is a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. DEWIS will be involved with employing you and paperwork, however my mother will be your legal employer and main contact. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Training is also required for this role, at no expense to you.
