Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Specialist Commissioning Team for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The team makes a significant and positive impact on the lives of Children and Young People and their families. By working directly with schools and various professionals, you can contribute to ensuring that Children and Young People receive appropriate support and opportunities for their development and learning. Being part of the Specialist Commissioning Team gives you the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as educators, social workers, healthcare professionals and policy makers. This interdisciplinary approach fosters a stimulating work environment, enabling you to gain valuable insights, share expertise, and develop your own professional network. The overall purpose of this role is to ensure the quality of educational provision is in line with commissioning practice and that effective quality assurance and monitoring ensures CYP with SEND receive education in line with their need and the providers offer. You will need to be aware of appropriate processes and policies, underpinned by legislation and guidelines relating to working with CYP. Specific activities will include the quality assurance and subsequent monitoring of independent special and mainstream schools. You will be a solution focussed practitioner and work collaboratively with providers to support school leadership, curriculum and safeguarding practices that best support some of the most complex/vulnerable children/young people in Gloucestershire. This role will include working across education, health, and social care to promote good practice.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proven track record in leadership and management. You will also have experience of managing statutory and non-statutory agreed processes with an excellent knowledge of the SEN sector. You will bring experience of multi-agency working and school leadership. You will need to display knowledge of inspection frameworks and the Independent School Standards. You will be professionally curious and value working collaboratively as a team to share good practice., We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential. It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.
As you'd expect, we offer an attractive package of benefits which makes a career in Local Government both flexible and rewarding. Here are some of the benefits we offer in return for your hard work.
