Full Job Description
We have a vacancy for a Family Health Coach within Hampshire Healthy Steps. Barnardo's is working with Hampshire County Council to develop a flexible, family-focussed, community-based programme to help families with children aged 2 to 12 years to take small steps get more active, sleep better, understand more about healthy eating and explore simple things that can help them stay healthy. The programme aims to support families to identify and set goals, and make small, manageable changes to improve their health and wellbeing. Hampshire Healthy Steps is offered to families across Hampshire, and it is therefore important that applicants can be flexible to travel around the county to meet families, deliver sessions and networks with partner agencies and community organisations to develop and grow our offer. As a Family Health Coach, you will:
- Co-ordinate and deliver the evidence-based programme both face-to-face and online to parents, carers and children.
- Offer families one-to-one support and signposting.
- Be confident to promote the service with stakeholders.
- Build a network of professional and community-based contacts to support families to access local resources and activities.
- Support the development of accessible, inclusive and engaging take-home and digital resources and information for families.
- Be confident in the supervision and co-ordination of Family Health volunteers.
- Help to evaluate the programme and identify and remove barriers to families receiving support.
Is passionate about making a positive difference in young people's lives. - Is approachable, energetic, and able to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Has excellent organisation and communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of working with children and families or whole family approaches, ideally in a group setting.
- To have a commitment to seeking feedback, hearing the voice of the child, and promoting co-production in all aspects of work.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band - this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. - Annual Leave entitlement for full-time colleagues is 26 days per annum, increasing to 27 days per annum, after 3 years Barnardo's service, 29 days per annum, after 5 years Barnardo's service and 30 days per annum, after 7 years Barnardo's service. Those working less than full time are entitled to the same level of holiday pro rata
