Full Job Description

To manage (with support from the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Trials) pharmacy aspects of clinical trials across all hospital sites within University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

To supervise pharmacy assistants, Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs), Rotational Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacists (TPs) working within pharmacy clinical trials., Ensure all dispensed clinical trial drugs comply with UK legislation, MHRA regulations, national & local guidelines and practices.

Ensure patients receive their therapy in a safe and timely manner

As the specialist technician, ensure a feasibility review and assessment of any clinical trial involving pharmacy takes place and share the results of this assessment with the clinical trials team.

Support the implementation of new services and regional and national initiatives, such as the HRA Technical Review and EDGE Trial Management System

Support the Lead Technician Clinical Trials to ensure that the trials workload within the pharmacy is organised in an efficient and timely manner, this will include planning in advance.

Develop the clinical trials service and work proactively to ensure the smooth introduction of new products and systems.

Participate in regular audits and reviews of clinical trials and clinical trial standards and processes relating to clinical trial practice and activity

Participate in issues relating to clinical trials governance, As part of our innovative and well established Clinical Trials team, you will work closely with the Trust's Research and Development team. You will be involved in the initiation of all clinical trials with a pharmaceutical component across all specialities including Oncology, Haematology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology and many others.
