Full Job Description

Skilled new hires are defined as having completed a relevant government approved apprenticeship or as a minimum have achieved a Level 3 or above vocational qualification via a regulated Awarding Organisation in a STEM subject that is applicable to the role being applied for and supported by relevant industrial experience. This will be assessed and documented by the recruiter and hiring manager through a behavioural and technical interview, and if necessary, a trade test. The interview and any trade test need to be conducted by a competent individual whose knowledge and skills align with the role being recruited for. Example vocational qualifications could include:

  • National/Scottish Vocational Qualification National and Higher National Certificates/Diplomas EAL Diploma's and Extended Diplomas City and Guilds Diplomas and Extended Diplomas Foundation Degrees
  • As a Vehicle Technician, you'll be carrying out manufacturer approved electrical, mechanical, body/trim reworks, and updating the software on them and undertake workshop investigations into complex vehicle issues and play a pivoting role to ensure the timely completion of all agreed rectification work. You will be given the opportunity to be actively involved in the process to ensure that the workshop meets the Health & Safety and Environmental standards. WHAT TO EXPECT In this role, no two tasks are the same. With lots of projects and relationships to build with people across the business and beyond, it's a challenge that will help your career grow within an iconic organisation. Here's what to expect:
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and recommend/perform appropriate repairs
  • Carry out initial fault finding and rectification of issues, raise concerns and ask questions to solve problems, when necessary, escalate issues through appropriate channel
  • Communicate with the parts team to obtain parts needed
  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety of self and others
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within agreed timeframes and that a high level of productivity is maintained

    Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you'll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
  • Must have an indentured/ modern apprenticeship in relevant discipline (Automotive Electrical / Mechanical) or minimum equivalent Level 3 national recognised qualification and provide documented evidence
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle assembly / rectification (Electrical & Mechanical)
  • Knowledge of vehicle servicing / maintenance
  • Previous experience of interpreting harness drawings
  • Working knowledge of TOPIX, FMS / Salesforce / IQM, Corvus and DMD
