This is an outstanding opportunity offered within Commando Forces, which is both varied and rewarding. Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a fun but vital team? Are you a qualified Level 3 Vehicle Mechanic wanting to expand your experience by working on our Beach Recovery Vehicle (BRV), a specialised, amphibious battle tank conversion that is unique to Commando Forces. We also maintain a diverse range of other amphibious vehicles, plant and associated equipment to support Royal Marines training. We will provide mentoring and training, also fully funded courses - some of which are residential. Does this sound like the role for you? If so, we would love to hear from you! This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. These hours are flexible. Subject to operational requirements, any additional hours would be recompensed in accordance with MOD Policy., You will be responsible for carrying out fault diagnosis, maintaining, inspecting and crewing our Beach Recovery Vehicle (BRV), a specialised, amphibious battle tank conversion that is unique to Commando Forces. You will also be carrying out fault diagnosis of other Military vehicles as well as inspections, servicing and repairs in line with unit requirements, in order to deliver maximum vehicle fleet availability. To support your career development as a Vehicle Technician, we will provide you with the relevant funded training courses, some of which are residential.,
- To carry out inspection, repair and maintenance on the BRV and a range of specialist vehicles and equipment, following the relevant policies and procedures.
- To liaise with the BRV platform Authority and other stakeholders, with the provision of Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge. To operate the Beach Recovery Vehicle supporting amphibious training and trials activities on local beach training areas. 11 Squadron is moving towards paperless processes, with the majority of maintenance recorded electronically on a tailored MOD equipment management information system, therefore a basic level of IT skill is required for this post; training will be provided for the MOD system. In order to deliver its outputs, 11 Squadron relies on an adaptable team with a good understanding of the customers' requirements; the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate at interview an ability to fit in and collaborate as part of this team. Timing of 11 Squadron's activities is constrained by tidal conditions which means that there will be requirements to work outside normal hours for which a premium will be paid in line with MOD policy. Depending upon experience and qualifications, the successful applicant will be required to travel and stay overnight in order to complete training vital to fulfil the role.
