Full Job Description
As a Principal Architect, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Join the Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit in delivering critical defence infrastructure to support the UK's future MOD ship and submarine programmes. Help shape the design, build, and commissioning of advanced facilities for the long-term maintenance of Astute Class submarines. Day-to-day, you'll leverage your expertise in facility upgrades or construction to manage and review subconsultant design packages, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and applying architectural oversight to deliver an integrated facility that meets all technical and operational sustainment requirements.
- Ensure compliance-driven delivery of architectural work packages to meet scope, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
- Lead and manage architectural elements of the Dock Facility upgrade, acting as Subject Matter Expert and ensuring technical performance.
- Provide technical design guidance and review of architectural packages.
- Oversee the integration of architectural designs with multidisciplinary design packages.
- Ensure comprehensive and standards-aligned documentation supports operational scope and project delivery objectives. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working.
- Proven background in major civil infrastructure projects, ideally within marine or dock environments.
- Strong architectural design expertise from concept through to on-site delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of highly regulated building environments, including nuclear facilities.
- Broad multi-disciplinary design experience, with preference for nuclear site projects.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills., Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture as a minimum qualification.
- Be a Chartered Architect with extensive post-qualification experience.
- RIBA registration is preferred. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
