Full Job Description
Wyre Forest District Council are looking for a Planning Officer to support the formulation and implementation of policies and strategies related to planning for our District. This is your opportunity to make a significant impact, working on landscaping, green infrastructure and other policies to help shape the environment, meet the needs of our residents and business and to ensure sustainable growth. As a Planning Officer, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals, engage with stakeholders and utilise your expertise to lead on plan-making whilst also supporting the Development Management function. Wyre Forest District Council has an up-to-date Development Plan with a 5-year housing land supply but are commencing our Local Plan Review to meet the requirements of the new NPPF and housing numbers. Minimum requirement include a degree in a relevant subject, a full driving license and suitable vehicle and experience in dealing with members of the public or councillors. The ideal candidate should have the following skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team, have great communication and interpersonal skills and be able to write in a clear and concise manner.,
- This job includes duties that may require an element of physical effort and mobility on an occasional basis. To meet the needs of the service, the ability to undertake the full range of duties for the contracted hours will be required. Need to be able to meet the physical demands of the job in particular out on site and visiting remote areas within the District.
- Flexible approach to working hours, able to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including a requirement to be available for evening meetings.
- This is a Fixed Term Contract for 2 years
- The attention of the post holder is drawn to paragraph 70 of the Scheme and Conditions of Service that he/she is not to prepare any plans on behalf of any applicant to this Council for planning and/or Building Regulations.
- The closing date for applications is 8th June 2025 , but we reserve the right to close applications early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
