Located on the Lancashire coast, with Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster and the Lake District nearby, the borough of Wyre includes urban areas, seaside resorts, traditional market towns within an extensive rural area that includes part of the Forest of Bowland. We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated enthusiastic individuals to become COMMERCIAL SAFETY OFFICER
- 37 HOURS PER WEEK
- GRADE 8/9 £35,235 - £41,511 plus £3000 Golden Hello
We are looking for experienced and qualified Environmental Health Officers or Food Safety Officers (with a higher certificate in food control) to join our commercial safety team dealing with food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control and export health certification.
You will need to be highly motivated and able to work independently, with the ability to plan and manage work, and will be reporting to the Senior Environmental Health Officer (Commercial Safety).
You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and enforce it in a balanced way using all the legislative tools available.
The successful applicant must be competent in accordance with the current Food Law Code of Practice and have recent experience working in food safety in a Local Authority.
Ideally you will have recent experience in relation to food and health and safety technical specialisms, however applications are also welcome from those with expertise in other areas who wish to broaden their experience, or from those who are recently qualified.
