Do you want a role where you're recognised for what you do, given the opportunity to thrive and have the chance to be the best version of yourself? Interested in joining a great organisation with an employee offer and experience that rivals others? Are you looking for a new challenge? If so, please keep reading as you're just what we're looking for!
The team…
We are seeking to appoint a keen, motivated and committed individual who is required to provide front-line support in the delivery of the Council's Civil Parking Enforcement, working within the Parking Services Team in the Highways & Waste Service.
The Parking Services team is responsible for all aspects of parking. We manage the Council's public car parks and also the Council's residents parking and Blue Badge schemes. We enforce parking restrictions in our car parks and on the highway, and also administer bus lane enforcement, directly contributing to the safe and expeditious movement of vehicles on the Council's highway network. We have significant levels of contact with members of the public and with councillors, both in relation to parking appeals and seeking changes to parking restrictions.
About the role….
You will provide front line services to members of the public and fellow members of staff, considering challenges in respect of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) issued for parking and to issue appropriate responses using the Council's notice processing system.
You will also administer the issuing of permits, handling payments and dealing with enquiries through multiple modes of communication, including formal letters.
This frontline team deals with significant volumes of work, some of which is subject to statutory timescales which demands high levels of accuracy and accountability. All processing must be carried out in accordance with statutory requirements where they apply, as well as internal Council policies and procedures and industry best practice.
The team is often asked to undertake additional functions, especially in the light of ongoing changes to the service. Flexibility in terms of learning the skills necessary for this is therefore highly desirable.
It is essential that you have 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or Grade C or above (or equivalent) and have good organisational and communication skills. You should also have good numeracy, literacy and IT skills encompassing information and data management using databases, (Windows-based operating systems including Microsoft office products) and, importantly, be detail conscious. You should also have knowledge of financial regulations and budgetary controls.
Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team is also desirable.
