Job Title: Communications and Events Co-ordinator
Location: Bolton Priory Parish Office, Bolton Abbey, Skipton BD23 6AL
Type: Permanent, following 6-month probationary period.
Closing Date: 12 noon Friday 13 June 2025
Background: We are seeking a friendly, approachable person who is enthusiastic, committed to delivering a high standard of service, supportive of furthering the mission of the Church of England and who enjoys dealing with people. An ability to work with minimum supervision is essential.
Overall Job purpose: The Communications and Events Co-ordinator is a new job at Bolton Priory with the main focus being on establishing effective communications across the parish and beyond. The overall duty is to ensure the promotion and communication of the Priory’s Worship and Mission, particularly through the website and social media, and to assist in administering key events in the life of the parish, including weddings, concerts and other bespoke events. The role also includes responsibility for providing assistance to the Rector, as required. The Communications and Events Co-ordinator’s Line Manager is the Rector, and in the Rector’s absence, the Church Wardens.
The place of work is the Parish Office, Bolton Abbey, Nr Skipton BD23 6AL. Occasional home-working may be acceptable by agreement with the Rector.
Salary and hours of work: The post is part time, 6 hours per week working on Monday and Friday from 9am -12pm together with attendance at concerts and other key events, as required. No overtime is payable for these occasional events, as the salary has been set to reflect these additional duties. This post will require a flexible approach to working hours, and the post-holder will be expected to work the hours reasonably required to fulfil the duties of the post.
Salary: £600 per month.

Job Description - Communication and Events co-ordinator
The Communication and Events co-ordinator is a key staff member in the life and Mission of Bolton Priory. The position holder will have significant responsibilities with regard to the promotion and communication of the parish particularly on the website and social media. They will help with the administration of the parish and, in particular, the organisation of key events including weddings, concerts and other bespoke events. They will work closely with the Rector, Church Wardens and the Verger in so doing.
The Communication and Events co-ordinator is under the day- to- day management of the Rector and Church Wardens.
Outline of main duties
Communications
· Responsible for the Bolton Priory website, updating and re-designing as required
· Responsible for promoting Bolton Priory on social media, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Blink and other platforms
· Responsible for the production, formatting, layout and printing of written and projected materials, including service sheets, leaflets and posters
· Advertising special services, such as Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Harvest Festival, Carol Services and Christmas etc.
Events
· Assisting with the administration of weddings, including liaising with wedding couples and preparation of documents
· Maintaining a list of concerts and liaising with musicians and sponsors, as required
· Providing assistance at concerts, as required
· Arranging other events, as required, and in consultation with the Rector
Office
· Preparing and maintaining the parish data-base
· Ensuring compliance with GDPR across all parish activities
· Assisting with ordering stock for sales table, as required
· Assisting with general parish administration, as necessary
Other
· Any other duties as directed by the Rector and/or Church wardens in the course of your employment
Person specification
Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they have the necessary training and experience required for the post. You must be willing to learn and undertake any necessary training as required.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
● Experience of working with IT and communications, including social media
● Website management
● Experience of working in an administrative role.
● Experience in working with broad range of people of all ages and backgrounds
● Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive situations.
● Understanding safeguarding and GDPR requirements.
Desirable criteria
● Qualifications in administration, clerical/secretarial /IT and public relations.
● Working knowledge of the Church of England; its worship, the church year and its organisational structure.
