Full Job Description
We require an experienced Energy Advice Worker to join our Caritas Energy Saving Service to provide energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester so that they can:
- Reduce energy consumption by employing energy-saving measures
- Reduce the cost of their energy bills through being on the right tariff etc
- Improve their mental and physical health and well-being by reducing the effects of fuel poverty You will deliver information sessions and run advice surgeries in Caritas' community services including Cornerstone Day Centre in Hulme, Red Door in Bury, Lalley Centre in Collyhurst as well as representing Caritas in our partnership organisations in their centres. The advice work will be delivered face to face, but this will also include telephone/online sessions as well as home visits. To ensure that the service is available to the whole community, you will work with interpreters (spoken language and British sign language).

The role requires you to have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis, as well as in a team. You must be able to work independently and proactively using your own initiative to make appropriate decisions for the most positive outcomes. Additionally, you will have knowledge of advice work, good IT and administration skills. There will be an opportunity to secure a Level 3 City and Guild qualification in Energy Awareness, therefore a willingness to secure this will need to be demonstrated. Caritas will fund the training., Caritas follows Safer Recruitment practices, and this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The role requires travel to other Caritas services. A full UK driving licence with the use of a car insured for business purposes would be useful but is not essential. Travel expenses can be claimed.
