We are seeking a passionate and innovative English Teacher to join our dedicated team at The Appleton School. As an English Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring students to develop their language and literature skills, creative expression, and critical thinking. We are looking for an individual who can create engaging and challenging lessons that foster a deep understanding and appreciation of English across all Key Stages. Principal Responsibilities

Plan and deliver dynamic and differentiated lessons in English across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring all students are engaged, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to explore challenging literary and linguistic concepts with enthusiasm and confidence.
Employ a range of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, enhancing student engagement and understanding.
Encourage students to think critically and creatively, fostering their analytical skills and helping them to develop a deep appreciation for literature, language, and effective communication.
Implement various formative and summative assessment methods to monitor and evaluate student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback to support their academic growth and achievement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, review, and refine the English curriculum, participating actively in departmental meetings and contributing to cross-curricular projects and enrichment activities.

Compass Education Trust is currently engaged in discussions which are expected to result in the transfer of all schools to Harris Federation with effect from 1 September 2026 (the "Proposed Transfer"). Any employment commencing from 1 September 2026 will not be directly impacted under TUPE, but if the proposed transfer proceeds, it is anticipated that your employment will commence with Harris Federation rather than Compass Education Trust. Further details will be discussed with you at the interview stage.
