In return, we offer a calm, orderly and respectful environment. We also offer a range of staff benefits and development opportunities which support your professional and career development. You will be able to learn from some of the best and most able practitioners in the country. There is a far-reaching commitment to ensuring that all our staff are given the access to excellent development and induction programmes.

Galleywall triumphantly opened in September 2016 and grew year-on-year, now serving a population of almost 400. We achieved an Outstanding result from OfSTED in January 2025. Galleywall is a jewel at the heart of a growing family of outstanding schools, sponsored by the prestigious City of London. Through this we are able to work in partnership with 'Guildhall School of Music and Drama' and other prominent institutions within the City. Our rich and broad curriculum stimulates creativity and sparks children's imagination. At the heart of our skills based curriculum is an emphasis on literacy and drama, creativity and the arts, independent enquiry, reflective thinking and collaboration.

Galleywall Primary School is part of the City of London Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust with schools in North, East and South London. We are driven by a clear ambition to ensure that all schools are recognised as Outstanding within three years of joining us.

We combine the heritage and tradition of the Corporation of London with a genuinely innovative, enterprising and entrepreneurial ethos. We are also committed to providing first-rate training and development to all of our staff, plus excellent career advancement opportunities within this evolving Trust.

The school has recently appointed a new Headteacher and has committed to further building its already outstanding holistic offer second to none in the private or state sectors, as well as a programme to challenge the most able. All of this in Bermondsey - at the vibrant heart of a great city., Galleywall Primary was established in 2016, with its building dating back to 1876 and serving the community with distinction over the years. Galleywall has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in both its inspections since opening (2019 and 2025), and our aim is to provide the best possible educational experience for our pupils. We have high expectations for achievement and conduct of the whole of the school community and were described in an inspection as a 'joyful place to study'. We are fully staffed with well-qualified, experienced and energetic practitioners, and have the strong support of parents and the community. We support and challenge all our pupils, whatever their starting points, in a school known to be warm, nurturing and orderly. Our curriculum is rich and creative and is delivered with flair and imagination, and opportunities for high-quality cultural enrichment are abundant and varied. We aim for our pupils to show the five Galleywall values, being
Enlightened, Aspirational, Individual, Entrepreneurial and Compassionate.

In our academy, we expect children to work hard and demonstrate dedication and commitment to their education. There are clear boundaries and rules that children must follow at all times. We teach and expect pupils to exhibit exemplary character and conduct, showing respect, kindness, and politeness towards one another and adults. In return, we provide them with an excellent education, fostering both academic success and personal development. We aim to help them cultivate the skills and values needed to thrive in later life.

We are part of the City of London Academies Trust, where we believe strongly in the transformational nature of education operating schools in areas of significant disadvantage. We understand that strong outcomes lead to improved life chances for our children, so we are unashamedly academic and unapologetically results driven. Each of our schools adopt a 'warm/strict' approach, combining high expectations with care and support. Our level of care means we never compromise on standards or expectations, ensuring that no child's background becomes a reason for lowering the bar. Our schools maintain exemplary standards of behaviour, with systems, rituals and norms that instil strong habits. As a result, our schools provide an environment where our teachers can teach, and children can learn without disruption. We take great pride in fostering an exceptionally positive learning environment and we work meticulously to maintain our strong ethos and culture.
