Full Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Finance Analyst to join our dynamic Commercial Finance team at Slater & Gordon, one of the UK's leading legal firms. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong problem-solving skills, a passion for working with data, and a desire to drive commercial insight and process improvement within a complex, fast-paced environment.You will play a key role in supporting financial analysis, interpreting large data sets, and contributing to the development of strategic insights that influence decision-making at senior levels.Key Responsibilities
- Analyse large and complex data sets to deliver clear, actionable insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Support monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, as well as ad hoc commercial analysis
- Collaborate with business teams on cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency and data accuracy
- Present analysis outcomes in a clear and engaging manner, tailored for a range of audiences, including senior leadership
- Use Alteryx and Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, etc.) to automate and streamline processes
- Contribute to the development of forecasting tools and performance dashboards
- Bring a commercial mindset to case intake data, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks
- Support with the successful implementation of a new business system
Strong Excel skills essential; experience with Alteryx or other data transformation tools is desirable - Demonstrated ability to interpret and manipulate large data sets efficiently
- Logical thinker with the ability to simplify complexity and take the most efficient route to a solution
- Confident communicator, able to explain technical analysis to non-finance audiences
- Commercial acumen, with an eye for process improvement and value creation
- Desire and ability to learn new tools, methods, and concepts
- A positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to collaborate and contribute to a strong team culture
- Comfortable working independently while being highly collaborative in team settings
- Experience in a finance, data analysis or commercial environment (legal sector not essential) Qualifications
- Financial qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) not required but would be an advantage
- Degree in a numerical or business-related subject desirable but not essential if experience is strong
