Full Job Description
We're looking for a Communications Assistant to join our communications team at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters and help deliver a comprehensive service to communities, staff and stakeholders.
The role involves assisting in a wide range of duties including media relations, internal communications, campaigns and digital activity. The post holder will also study towards achievement of a Level 4 PR and Communications Assistant Apprenticeship. You will create and publish content for multiple channels, using data and insight to plan communications activity and evaluate results. Communicating during emergencies and assisting in the delivery of projects and events are all part of this varied role.
The successful candidate will have 4 GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent preferably Maths and English Language being one of these however this is not essential, and a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to use Microsoft 365, social networking sites, content management systems and apps are essential. A positive team player who can work well under pressure, you'll thrive in a busy environment, where every day brings something different. In return you'll work on diverse and challenging topics and develop strong skills for a career in PR and communications. It is an essential requirement of the post that you hold a current 'Category B' full driving licence and have a car available that meets the Service's requirements. You will also be required to participate in the on-call communications rota, which will require you to travel out of hours across Lancashire to provide a media relations function for the Service.
Training is provided and an additional allowance is paid.
This role is for a fixed term of two years and is based at Service headquarters in Fulwood.
