• Founded in 1886, with an illustrious history, Bembridge Sailing Club is situated in Bembridge Harbour on the eastern end of the

Isle of Wight. With a membership of some 1,100, the Club has an active year-round sailing and social programme and an

important youth training scheme.

• The Club is pursuing revenue generating activities that will support its growth.

• The General Manager will be accountable for management and development of staff and facilities, acting as Club Secretary and

ensuring smooth running of the sailing and social programmes. The role includes active management of the Club’s financial

accounts, as well as promoting wider commercial use of the Club’s facilities.

• Applicants will need proven managerial, financial, communication and IT skills and the ability to work effectively both as leader

and member of a small team. An enthusiasm for the sea and sailing is desirable, but personal sailing experience and knowledge

is not essential.

• The successful candidate will be a commercially astute self-starter, highly organised, with strong management skills and a focus

on leadership and service. With good communication and presentation skills, the individual will be tactful and diplomatic – able

to move an agenda forward in an inclusive and consultative manner.

• This is a permanent, full-time position with exciting development potential, requiring an aspirational and entrepreneurial

approach. The role will be demanding and requires an enthusiastic, efficient and self-motivated individual who is flexible and

able to work to the Club’s active programme.
