Full Job Description
Our team of Consultant Ophthalmologists, Specialist Nurses, Technicians, Orthoptists and Optometrists strive to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a cohesive place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
You will be part of a team providing acute, out-patient, daycase and inpatient care to the population of Northamptonshire and surrounding regions.
There is a weekly Ophthalmic Journal Club held on Monday lunch times.
The ranges of duties are broadly listed below:

o Assisting with Medical Retina clinics and Retinopathy of Prematurity Screening
o Diabetic Retinopathy Service
o Age Related Macular Degeneration Service
o Independent laser lists
o Eye Casualty Service
o Regular clinical sessions in out-patient department and peripheral clinics.
o Peripheral clinic out-patient sessions
o Liaison with other departments on and off the KGH site at the request of Consultant staff.
The post-holder will be joining a cohesive team of soon to be seven Consultant Ophthalmologist's and will enjoy proactive involvement in developing and delivering, new innovative, clinical pathways and support education, audits and learning as an established Teaching Unit., Applications will be transferred to TRAC system, by completing an application your are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data.

In submitting an application form, you authorise Kettering General Hospital (KGH) NHS Foundation Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) process. Including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training record.
If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
