Full Job Description
The post is for 10 PA to support the existing psychiatry team with assessments, diagnosis, risk reviews, prescribing and medication management, including neurodevelopmental cases. The main role of the post holder will be to provide high quality psychiatric assessment and treatment. The post holder may also be required to cover duty psychiatry slots for Westminster CAMHS once they have settled in and if deemed appropriate to their level. Duties also include; To attend CAMHS multidisciplinary team meetings for mutual support, in-service training, for the review of clinical cases and opportunities for audit.To participate in the provision of teaching to medical undergraduates and other professionals. To ensure good record keeping of assessments and interventions and to contribute to reports/ correspondence as outlined in the clinical protocol of the service.To participate in continuing professional development., Central and North West London (CNWL) specialises in caring for people with a wide range of mental and physical health needs and is one of the largest mental health trusts in England. Each CAMHS service has its own local management structure: Harrow CAMHS has a Lead Psychiatrist, Therapies lead and team manager who work closely with the outer boroughs service manager. Each sub-team has a psychiatry and therapy lead and they, together with the team and service manager form the local senior management team which meets monthly. The postholder will be part of the SMT. The Harrow CAMHS team is well established and staffed by a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using a range of therapeutic interventions including behaviour, systemic, CBT, IPT-A, DBT, psycho-dynamic and group therapies as well as psychopharmacological approaches. Harrow CAMHS is a Tier 3 service, accepting referrals from GPs, paediatrics, schools and Children's Services. The service has active service user groups for young people and parents. The team has a monthly CPD session and local care quality meeting, a doctors meeting twice a month which includes peer group case discussions, a weekly local consultants meeting and a monthly senior management meeting which the postholder will be part of.,
- To undertake assessments of young people and families referred to the CAMHS team with mental health disorders, devise formulations and care plans and provide interventions/treatments.
- To assess children and adolescents with mental health problems, presenting acutely to the service or to paediatrics.
- To provide treatment and therapy appropriate to level of training and experience under the general supervision of the consultant psychiatrist
- To attend service wide meetings for provision of peer education and peer discussion
- To attend CAMHS multidisciplinary team meetings for mutual support, in-service training, for the review of clinical cases and opportunities for audit.
- To participate in the provision of teaching to medical undergraduates and other professionals.
- To ensure good record keeping of assessments and interventions and to contribute to reports/correspondence as outlined in the clinical protocol of the service.
- To participate in continuing professional development.
- To provide relevant reports for educational/social services planning.
- To provide clinical care for other patients if their allocated doctor/case manager is unavailable.
- To gain experience of some psychological treatments.
- To participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and research.
- To communicate medical issues effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
