Full Job Description
Are you passionate about woodworking and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people? We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Woodwork Tutor to deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that not only teach practical skills but also empower students to succeed in adulthood. You'll be working in a supportive, inclusive environment that values Equality, Empowerment, Respect, and Sustainability. Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and Deliver Lessons, creating engaging and informative woodworking lessons tailored to different skill levels.
- Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining equipment and teaching safe practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve the curriculum with a particular focus on student progression into further education or employment
- Deliver innovative, timely, and effective teaching, learning, and assessment that enhances students' progression opportunities and helps them achieve their intended destinations.
- Support and respond to the emotional and behavioural needs of students.
- Recognise changes in students' presentation early and use proactive strategies to support their well-being and engagement.
- Ensure all students receive a safe and empowering learning experience that meets their individual needs and EHCP outcomes, with stretch and challenge to succeed in adult life.
- Develop age-appropriate learning resources that enhance student learning and make effective use of the community to support learning.
- Be a reflective practitioner, always striving for improvement and actively contributing to quality cycles and professional continuous learning.
- Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and other staff to benefit students and ensure effective embedding of key curriculum aspects (e.g. English, Maths, citizenship, safeguarding) into all learning activities.
- Take responsibility for the delivery, monitoring, and achievement of qualifications and RARPA achievement within your area of responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to all processes and procedures for the benefit of students. General Responsibilities for all Staff:
- Ensure that all beneficiaries are treated with dignity and respect.
- Empower students and day service users to maintain their personal independence and confidentiality.
- Contribute positively to a high-quality teaching, learning, and working environment.
- Comply with health & safety and safeguarding regulations.
- Any other reasonable duties commensurate with role as required.
As a Woodwork Tutor, you'll inspire confidence, creativity and independence in young people through practical learning that leaves a lasting impact., PGCE / CertEd teaching qualification or equivalent - Level 3 or above in Carpentry and/or equivalent vocational qualification
- Level 2 or above in English and Maths
- Evidence of recent and ongoing continual professional development
- Qualified to teach students with additional needs.
- Level 2 or above in Autism or willing to work towards, Evidence of teaching and relevant curriculum knowledge
- Experience of working with young people with learning needs
- Experience of quality assurance and quality improvement
- Experience of being effective at planning for learning
- Experience of delivering and assessing RARPA
- Experience of delivering and assessing qualifications
- Experience of managing budgets effectively Interpersonal Skills & Qualities
- Skilled communicator and effective both orally and in writing
- Evidence of developing and maintaining effective internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Be accountable and responsible for your own performance
- Able to manage workload with competing deadlines
- Has a genuine desire to improve the lives of both our students and residents and is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion
