Full Job Description
We are looking for a reliable, cheerful, and flexible Personal Assistant (PA) to support a gentleman in the HU3 area of Hull, near Hull Royal Infirmary.
The gentleman is a delightful individual who, while non-verbal, communicates his feelings effectively and responds well to positive interaction. He has a cheerful disposition and enjoys going out for walks, watching cars and buses, listening to lively music, being entertained and involved in daily activities.
This rewarding role involves providing essential care and companionship. You will provide comprehensive support, which falls into two main parts:
1. Personal Care and Support:
Assisting with all aspects of daily living, including dressing, washing, toileting, and meal assistance.
The gentleman is a wheelchair user and requires the use of a hoist (full training provided by the main carer/mother).
2. Domestic Assistance:
Helping around the house with tasks the gentleman cannot manage himself, including laundry and general cleaning.
The main carer, his mother, will provide full guidance and comprehensive training to ensure you are comfortable and capable of meeting his specific needs. You will work closely under her direction., It is important to note that Choices and Rights are not the employer, we act on the employer's behalf and we cannot be held responsible for any actions arising from your employment. We are not an agency.
Reliable and Consistent: Punctuality and commitment are vital.
Cheerful and Engaging: Able to interact positively, involve the gentleman in activities, and be sensitive to his likes/dislikes.
A Willing Learner: Ready to learn his unique communication methods and specific care requirements, including the safe use of the hoist.
A Team Player: Able to work effectively under the guidance and direction of the main carer (mother). Hours are 8am to 10.30am Monday to Thursday, 8am to 9.30am Friday and Sunday 5pm to 7pm. Flexibility is essential to cover holiday and sickness absences for the other two existing carers.
If you are interested in this rewarding opportunity, or know someone who might be, please get in touch to discuss the role further.
The successful applicant will be employed subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The cost of this check will be met by the employer/local authority.
