Job DescriptionAbout the SchoolSnowdon Village School is part of the Cabot Learning Federation and is a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) alternative provision. The school supports young people who have struggled to engage in mainstream education, often due to behavioural, emotional, or social challenges.The setting provides a structured, therapeutic and nurturing environment where students are supported to re-engage with education, build positive relationships, and develop the skills needed to succeed both in school and in the wider community.About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and resilient Youth Development Mentor to join the team. This role is centred around supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to regulate their emotions, improve behaviour, and re-engage with learning.The position includes both in-school support and outreach work, working with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, both within the school setting and out in the community.You

will play a key role in building trusted relationships, acting as a positive role model, and supporting students with their personal development, engagement, and wellbeing.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport students with SEMH needs in managing behaviour and emotional regulationBuild strong, positive relationships with young peopleDeliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessionsSupport students both in the classroom and through outreach activitiesPromote engagement in education and personal developmentWork collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agenciesProvide consistent, calm, and structured supportWhat We're Looking ForExperience working with young people, ideally within an SEMH, alternative provision, or youth work settingStrong behaviour management and de-escalation skillsAbility to build rapport and trust with challenging or disengaged studentsResilience, patience, and a calm, empathetic approachA genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve positive
