Full Job Description

The Young Persons Eating Disorders Specialist Nurse will work within Sheffield Eating Disorders Service (SEDS), providing specialist assessment, treatment and ongoing support to children and young people with eating disorders and their families/carers.

The role will include delivery of evidence-based interventions, primarily Family Based Treatment (FBT/FT-AN), alongside other eating disorder interventions identified through assessment.

The post holder will manage an agreed clinical caseload, providing therapeutic interventions, psychoeducation, physical health monitoring, risk management, relapse prevention and ongoing support. Weight monitoring will form an important part of the clinical intervention. The role will also include group work and opportunities to contribute to the Intensive Community Treatment Programme.

The post holder will work closely with young people, families and carers, as well as colleagues across health, social care, education and other relevant agencies. This includes effective liaison with GPs, mental health services, acute wards and specialist units, particularly where young people require transitions between services or admission to hospital.
