Year 1 Primary Teacher (Thursdays & Fridays)
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Start Date: As soon as possible (Immediate start available)
Duration: Until the end of the summer term
Working Pattern: Part-time (Every Thursday and Friday)
Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
About the Role
Are you a passionate primary educator looking for a rewarding part-time role to round out your week? A welcoming, community-focused primary school in Taunton is looking for an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join their team for the remainder of the summer term.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a vibrant classroom every Thursday and Friday. You will be job-sharing with an established teacher, taking over a wonderful group of Year 1 children who are eager to learn, explore, and finish their school year on a high note.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, creative, and phonics-rich lessons tailored to the Year 1 curriculum.
Collaborate closely with your classroom job-share partner to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of learning.
Maintain a positive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued.
Work alongside experienced Teaching Assistants to support all learning levels within the classroom.
What We Are Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification (ECTs/NQTs are welcome !).
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (KS1), with a strong understanding of early reading, writing, and phonics (such as Read Write Inc. or similar programs).
A nurturing, patient approach and the ability to quickly build rapport with young learners.
Strong communication skills to ensure effective handovers with the Monday-to-Wednesday class teacher.
An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness for one immediately).
