Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic Workshop Support Operative/Driver to join our busy workshop team in Shepton Mallet. This is a hands-on role that combines workshop support, vehicle movements, basic maintenance tasks, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the depot.,
- Maintain safe and organised workshop parking areas to support efficient depot operations.
- Collect, deliver, and relocate vehicles between company sites and external locations as required.
- Carry out minor repairs, component replacements, and basic vehicle maintenance tasks where trained and authorised.
- Support brake testing activities, including vehicle and trailer movements, loading vehicles, and conducting brake tests following training.
- Assist Workshop Supervisor and workshop personnel in achieving operational targets and maintaining productivity levels.
- Ensure all maintenance activities, repairs, and component replacements are completed in line with company procedures and best practice.
- Accurately record job times and submit all relevant documentation to Workshop Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the workshop and operational areas.
- Promote and adhere to all Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work, and company procedures at all times.
- Provide general support across the workshop to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
Hold a valid Class 1 (Category CE) Driving Licence. - Possess a current Driver CPC Qualification Card and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Demonstrate practical, hands-on experience working with commercial vehicles, including fault diagnosis, defect rectification, and a sound understanding of vehicle systems and components.
- Hold a Counterbalance Forklift Licence (desirable, but not essential as training may be provided).
- Be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, prioritise workload effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Competitive Salary: £34,320 per annum, based on 40 hours per week. - Hours: 08:00hrs - 17:15hrs, Tuesday through to Friday and 07:00hrs - 12:00hrs on Saturdays.
- Overtime: Overtime paid at an hourly rate x 1.5 = £24.75 per hour.
- Additional Pay:
- + You will receive £10.00 per shift, when on standby rota basis. + For each call out you will receive £20.00 call out charge. + Any hours worked on call out, you will receive £24.75ph.
