Workplace Health Development Worker

This is a varied, people-focused role where no two days are quite the same. You'll be the friendly first point of contact for workplaces of all shapes and sizes, supporting them to complete Health Needs Assessments, plan and deliver engaging health campaigns, connect with local services and work towards accreditation at each level of the award. You'll be part of a proactive and supportive Workplace Health team, working closely with the Project Development Manager while taking the lead on training health advocates across Sunderland. • To ensure small, medium and large employers in Sunderland are supported to improve health in the workplace through health needs assessment, identification of health improvement priorities and development of health improvement plans and activities including training.
• To support the development of strong partnerships to enable small, medium and large employers in Sunderland successfully engage with lifestyle and wellbeing services.
• To ensure small, medium and large employers in Sunderland are offered support to successfully achieve the North East Better Health at Work Award (BHAWA) at all levels.
• To assist in the development and support of health advocates and volunteers across Sunderland, including the delivery of training., 1. To assist with the overall development of the service, liaison with partners and supporting business in Sunderland with workplace health needs.
2. To assess support requirements for employers, ensuring that the right level of support is offered to all organisations and providing workshops, seminars and training according to need. 3. To deliver regional Better Health at Work Award (BHAWA) within Sunderland and progress existing workplaces registered on the award. 4. Assist in the engagement of new businesses in workplace health programmes and the BHAWA. 5. To deliver advisory services to employers including the use of survey tools to assess health related needs of staff. 6. To co-ordinate the delivery of training to managers, human resource staff, occupational health staff and other identified workplace staff on health and work issues. 7. To support policy/facilitate development and provide model policies on health-related issues in the workplace providing workshops, seminars and training according to need. 8. Support employers in workplace health activity on key public health improvement priorities through partnership working with services. Including facilitating engagement with wellbeing services including NHS health checks, healthy nutrition, stop smoking services, improving physical activity, sexual health services, alcohol & drug services and training, emotional & mental wellbeing, domestic & sexual violence services and others as appropriate. 9. To co-ordinate training and awareness raising interventions to ensure workplaces are aware of healthy lifestyle advice services available to their workplace and area where their employees live. 10. To co-ordinate delivery of package of mental health and wellbeing support to businesses engaged in workplace health award programmes. 11. To work with partners to develop strong referral pathways and links with a range of services. 12. To assist the Project Lead in ensuring that the service meets quality indicators and is delivered in line with Regional Better Health at Work Award standards. 13. To be responsible for data management including maintaining a monitoring system that captures and reports workplace health progress. 14. To support networking and celebration events as required by the Project Lead. 15. To ensure the department operates effectively and efficiently. 16. To conduct personal, venue and activity risk assessments as required. 17. To assist in collating written reports when required both internally and externally. 18. To undertake any other such duties which are deemed appropriate by your Line Manager.
