Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Working Cleaning Supervisor to join our team at Chelmsford County Hall. You will work alongside an Assistant Cleaning Manager to lead and support a team of cleaners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality routine, planned, and periodic cleaning for a Mitie customer. This is a hands-on role that combines cleaning duties with staff supervision, training, and service delivery management. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver routine, planned, and periodic cleaning to a consistently high standard.
  • Ensure cleaning staff follow task schedules and adhere to Health & Safety procedures.
  • Carry out on-the-job support to your team.
  • Organise and coordinate holiday and sickness cover to maintain service levels.
  • Complete monthly cleaning cupboard audits and spot checks using a smartphone app.
  • Monitor stock levels, place timely orders, and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and deliver on-the-job training to support excellent cleaning standards.
  • Assist cleaners with IT tasks, including signing in, completing online training, accessing payslips and benefits, submitting holidays, and logging hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Distribute uniforms and ensure staff have the correct equipment and PPE.
  • Address issues promptly and professionally, escalating to the line manager when required.
  • Submit hazard reports and communicate clearly and effectively with your team.

    Previous experience in a cleaning supervisory role is essential
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with staff and colleagues.
  • Have good IT skills, including the ability to use a laptop and smartphone for:
  • Emails Microsoft Teams HR, payroll, and IT ticket systems Hazard and maintenance reporting Audit apps
  • Be approachable, supportive, and able to build positive working relationships.
  • Be Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently using your own initiative.
  • Be a strong team player with the ability to lead by example.
  • Have a full understanding of colour coding, PAT testing, dilution rates, COSHH, and Risk Assessments.
  • Be forward-thinking, organised, and able to plan workloads effectively while recognising when support is needed.
  • Be professional, courteous, and confident in representing Mitie and the client at all times.
  • Be able to align daily activities with organisational goals and inspire the team to do the same.
