Full Job Description
The post holder will play a pivotal role in implementing Welsh Language Standards within NHS Wales Performance & Improvement (P&I), operating as a hosted body of Public Health Wales (PHW). The role will support the delivery of P&I's Welsh Language agenda, ensuring compliance with Welsh Language Standards Regulations and contributing to the organisation's Welsh Language Plan. The post holder will act as a specialist advisor, supporting organisational change to embed and promote a culture of bilingualism across the organisation. This includes advancing strategic objectives, ensuring statutory obligations are met under the hosting agreement, and supporting the aim to improve health and well-being across Wales. The role has a national remit, working collaboratively with the PHW Welsh Language Team. The post holder will lead on developing and implementing robust monitoring and action planning processes, ensuring a consistent and cohesive approach to compliance. Key responsibilities include providing specialist advice and consultancy on Welsh language matters, contributing to budget planning and monitoring (particularly for Welsh language training), and reviewing and updating policies, procedures and guidance. The post holder will work across all Directorates to ensure Welsh Language Standards are embedded across the organisation and reflected in all areas of work., NHS P&I will support the NHS by providing:
- Improvement services
- Innovation support
- Value and sustainability support
- Clinical expertise in service improvement, drawing on the best in Wales
- Regional delivery support NHS P&I will support Ministers by providing:
- Financial delivery support
- Performance management support
- Planning advice
- Advice to Welsh Government on use of powers of directions and intervention
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Welsh Language Standards Compliance Officer to lead and deliver our Welsh Language agenda across NHS Wales Performance and Improvement (NHS P&I). This is a pivotal role, supporting the organisation to embed a culture of bilingualism, ensure compliance with Welsh Language Standards, and deliver on our organisational Welsh Language commitments. The successful candidate will act as a specialist advisor, driving forward continuous improvement and helping to shape how services are delivered in both Welsh and English. The Welsh Language Standards Compliance Officer will work collaboratively across all directorates and Public Health Wales Welsh Language Team, influencing change and ensuring Welsh language considerations are fully integrated into organisational planning, governance, and service delivery.
