Full Job Description

Lead on promoting student mental health and emotional wellbeing
Monitor student wellbeing and identify concerns at an early stage
Provide direct pastoral support to students experiencing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges
Implement wellbeing and early intervention plans for vulnerable learners, including those with SEN
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Advise staff on managing student wellbeing concerns and classroom strategies
Support staff in recognising signs of anxiety, distress, or disengagement
Work with parents/carers to support student wellbeing and maintain communication
Liaise with external services such as counselling teams, mental health services, and local authority support
Develop and deliver wellbeing initiatives, workshops, and awareness activities
Maintain accurate wellbeing records and monitor student progress
Share relevant information with safeguarding staff where appropriate

Experience supporting children or young people
Understanding of mental health, wellbeing, and pastoral support needs
Ability to identify and respond to wellbeing concerns appropriately
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Desirable Criteria

Experience in a wellbeing, pastoral, or student support role
Experience supporting students with SEN or SEMH needs
Knowledge of early intervention strategies
Experience working with parents and external agencies
Understanding of safeguarding and referral processes

This role involves working closely with children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
