We are recruiting for 5 Waste and Cleansing HGV Drivers to join Nottingham City Council's dedicated Blitz Team, working a permanent Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm shift pattern. The team also undertakes a wide range of street cleansing activities, including litter clearance, environmental maintenance and supporting other frontline services where operational needs require. • Experience of working in waste management, street cleansing, environmental services, local authority operations or a similar frontline service environment.
  • Experience of carrying out vehicle inspections, completing daily safety checks and operating vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, safe working practices, manual handling and risk assessment within an operational environment.
  • Knowledge of road safety requirements and the challenges of working in a public-facing environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative to prioritise tasks and respond to changing service demands.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, businesses and colleagues.
  • The ability to undertake physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions, including lifting, carrying and prolonged periods of walking and physical activity.
  • Experience of using handheld devices, mobile technology or digital systems to record work activities and report issues.
  • A flexible and positive approach to work, with a willingness to support a range of services and operational priorities across Nottingham.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and delivering high standards of customer care.
