Full Job Description

Warehouse Operative - Post Room (4 months FTC) At Fortnum & Mason, every detail matters - from the products we create to the experience we deliver for our customers, colleagues and partners. Behind the scenes, our Post Room plays an important role in keeping our operations moving smoothly, ensuring mail, deliveries, store requests and supplier queries are handled with care, pace and accuracy. We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Warehouse Operative to join our Post Room team. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working at pace, takes pride in accuracy, and understands the importance of delivering reliable service across a busy, fast-moving business. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to start in the role on 20th July. About the Role As Warehouse Operative, Post Room, you will support the smooth running of our post room operations by processing incoming and outgoing mail, supporting deliveries, managing stock requests and helping resolve supplier queries efficiently. You will work closely with colleagues across our stores, operations teams and suppliers to ensure requests are completed accurately and on time. What You'll Do

  • Process incoming mail efficiently, ensuring all items are checked in line with security procedures and any concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Deliver mail promptly to the relevant departments, stores and internal locations.
  • Prepare and process outgoing mail, including PPI labels, Click & Drop, manifests and BFPO mail.
  • Receive, unload and put away related deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Process internal orders and requests accurately through the relevant systems.
  • Raise Inter-Branch Transfers for UK stores, including stationery, store bags and packaging requests.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of stationery, store bags and packaging across the DC and Piccadilly locations.
  • Support budget management, invoicing and supplier queries where required.
  • Coordinate printer maintenance requirements for UK stores, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Build positive supplier relationships to support reliable service, best value and timely resolution of issues.

A detail-orientated approach, with strong accuracy and pride in doing things properly.
  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to spot issues early and help resolve them.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work clearly and professionally with colleagues, stores and suppliers.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support others in a busy operational environment.
  • Resilience under pressure, particularly during high-volume periods or when working to tight deadlines.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for completing tasks accurately and on time.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in making processes simpler and more effective.
  • Experience using stock management systems, inventory tools or retail operational platforms would be beneficial.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety standards within a warehouse, stockroom or operational environment.
  • Why Join Fortnum & Mason? For over 300 years, Fortnum & Mason has been known for extraordinary service, exceptional quality and attention to detail. Joining our team means becoming part of a business where every role plays an important part in delivering that experience. If you are organised, dependable and enjoy working in a hands-on operational role, we would be delighted to hear from you.
