Full Job Description
The post directly involves a wide range of duties including maintaining the ward environment, ensuring a high standard of ward cleanliness, stock control and nutritional related duties., To contribute to the work of the team in aiming to provide safe, personal, and effective care for all our patients and their families and carers.
- Always maintain privacy and dignity for all patients.
- Supporting and maintaining high standards of nutritional intake to the individual need of the patient.
- To play a key role in ensuring the ward environment is well maintained and clean.
- To work with estates services and ward team to ensure all fixtures and fitting are in order.
- To communicate well with patients and families.
- To support ward staff in project work and new developments., Liaise professionally with staff and services.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality.
- Any concerns about patients or raised by relatives or carers should be communicated to named nurse or senior nurse in charge.
- Use of electronic system for ordering of supplies and ensuring adequate stocks available.
- Liaise with linen services to ensure ward stocks meet the needs of the ward.
- Assist senior nursing staff with evaluation of stock requirements and make necessary changes, Ensuring that the ward is of a high standard of cleanliness in all areas and giving assistance when appropriate.
- Ensuring ward cleaning checklists are meaningfully completed and report any concerns to Ward Sister.
- Cleaning of equipment and organisation of ward kitchen
- Reporting any faults with fixtures and fittings and maintaining accurate logs of jobs reported. Escalate to ward sister or matron any delays by estates.
- Implement Infection Control principles, ensuring ward environment is compliant with infection control policy.
- Preparation of bed areas for patient admissions.
- Participate in the auditing of the ward environment including mattresses and report any concerns.
- Ensure ward linen is adequately stored in accordance with Trust policy
- General tidiness of all ward's areas and encouragement to team members.
- Ordering of ward provisions via telephone, computer, and fax, ensuring that all stocks delivered to the ward are appropriately stored.
- To support ward manager to ensure storage areas are organised in accordance with productive ward and lean working principles., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
