Ward Host / Hostess

The post holder will work in part of the chain involved in inpatient and day patient catering at ward level. Predominantly responsible for the provision of an efficient, safe and hygienic patient food service at Ward level and/or as directed by their team leader and/or line manager, operating within established food hygiene and safety practices, methods and procedures.

o Prepare areas where food and beverages are served/consumed to ensure a pleasant environment for patients.o Ensure that discharged and newly admitted patients' meal requirements are actioned in conjunction with the ward nurse.o Co-ordinate extra meal requirements that may arise.o Ensure patients whose fluid intake is not medically restricted have access to fresh water (e.g. Jugs and glasses).o Ensure the ward is safe and tidy at all times e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, signage etco Transport equipment, consumables, and written information as required

Contracted hours available for these posts are 2 x 30 hours and 2 x 23.75 hours. Prepare and serve hot/cold food from a regeneration oven trolley., o Take responsibility for the ward kitchen, ensuring it is clean at all times e.g. discarding out-of-date food, stock rotationo Undertaking duties in a chilled and/or frozen working and storage environment, as appropriateo Ensure that food is received, stored and stock rotated in line with departmental procedures and Food Hygiene Legislationo Inform patients of each meal's menu choice and take and record individual choices using the designated hard copyforms/computer software to record the information.o Regenerate cook chill/cook freeze food items, including special dietary meals in line with Food Hygiene Legislation.o Responsible for the completion of hard copy/and electronic documentation to record Food Services information in accordancewith HACCP, Food Hygiene Legislation and Departmental protocols, as and when required.
