Chemotherapy Ward Clerk & Reception TeamBe the Calm at the Centre of Cancer Care

Our Chemotherapy Ward Clerks and Reception Team play a vital role in delivering safe, seamless and compassionate cancer treatment. As the first friendly face patients and families see, you create a welcoming, reassuring environment at an understandably anxious time.

This is more than a reception role. You are a key coordinator at the heart of the service--linking patients, nurses, clinicians and pharmacy to ensure every treatment runs smoothly. From managing appointments and patient records to checking blood results, prescriptions and treatment plans, your attention to detail helps prevent delays and reduce clinical risk.

In a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, you'll actively manage patient flow, chair capacity and daily schedules, adapting quickly to change and problem-solving with confidence. Your work supports accurate data, strong governance and compliance with national cancer standards--keeping the unit safe, efficient and effective.

By taking ownership of complex administrative and pathway coordination, you protect valuable clinical time and directly enhance the patient experience. If you're organised, compassionate and motivated by making a real difference, this is your opportunity to be part of something truly meaningful.

Main duties of the job

Act as the first point of contact for patients attending the chemotherapy unit, providing a welcoming, calm and reassuring environment.

Manage patient check-ins, appointment queries and day-to-day reception duties to support smooth clinic flow.

Coordinate daily treatment schedules and monitor patient flow to minimise delays and support safe delivery of systemic anti-cancer treatment.

Ensure essential clinical information is available and accurate, including blood results, prescriptions and treatment plans.

Liaise closely with nursing staff, clinicians, pharmacy, transport services and wider cancer teams to resolve issues and respond to changes in real time.

Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment changes, delays or transport arrangements.

Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic systems in line with Trust policy and information governance standards.

Support cancer performance targets and data quality requirements by ensuring timely and accurate data entry.

Reduce administrative workload for clinical staff, enabling them to focus on patient care.

Contribute to a safe, efficient and patient-centred chemotherapy service.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust
