Ward Clerk

Provide an effective face to face/telephone ward clerk service using verbal and written communication to liaise with patients, relatives, staff, wards/units, divisions and external agencies/people to support the delivery of an efficient patient service. To assist Senior Sister administration duties, Doctors and communicate with GP surgery and district nurses., o Register patients on arrival, ensuring all demographic and episode details are recorded on the patient administration system.o Book transport for out patients appointments for ward patients where necessary.o Responsible for dealing with all queries, either via telephone or face to face promptly and efficiently to ensure that an accurate and quality information service is provided to the multi-disciplinary team, patients and their relatives.o Complete administration tasks, computer internal systems e.g Diagnostic reports ensuring continuity of service is maintained - including filing, photocopying, fault reporting, completion of the admission/discharges, GP and clinic letters, arrangement of patient follow up appointments, ensuring tests/investigations are correctly completed.o Takes responsibility to ensure on a daily basis all discharges are completed on the appropriate system in a timely fashion.o Administration support for Sister/Nurse-in-Charge/Senior Clinician may be required
