Full Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Ward Clerk to join our busy and friendly team at Westhaven Community Hospital. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as working well as part of a wider team. You will be the primary point of contact for patients and staff for any administrative tasks relating to the ward. Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check. Main duties of the job To provide administrative and clerical support, while contributing to ensure an effective and efficient service. To act as a first point of contact, on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals. - GCSE Level 4 (c) English language or equivalent
- Good standard of keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft office. Proficient in Microsoft word.
- Well-developed skills in communicating effectively with patients, carers and health care professionals within and outside of the NHS
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to balance competing priority's in a busy environment. Desirable
- Knowledge of working with spreadsheets, e.g Excel
- ECDL or other IT qualifications Job specific experience Essential
- Recent previous experience within a comparable role. At least 1 years experience in a NHS setting. Desirable
- Experience with working within a clinical team.
- Knowledge of NHS organisations and protocols. Information Technology Essential
- Demonstratable experience of using Microsoft office. Desirable
- Experience of using Systemone and patient administration system (PAS) Personal qulities and attributes Essential
