Full Job Description

The Ward Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth day-to-day administrative operations of the ward. Acting as a key point of contact for patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure effective communication and efficient coordination of clerical duties within a fast-paced clinical environment., Provide comprehensive administrative support to the ward, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Manage and update patient information promptly on the EPIC system, including admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Process patient documentation accurately and liaise with clinical staff, pharmacy, and other departments to resolve queries.
Act as the first point of contact for telephone enquiries, patients, relatives, and visitors, offering a professional and courteous service.
Welcome visitors to the ward and assist them in locating patients, enhancing overall patient and visitor experience.
Support the nursing team with administrative and coordination tasks during working hours.
Liaise regularly with multidisciplinary teams, including consultants' secretaries, pharmacy, and medical records.
Maintain ward supplies by monitoring and ordering stock as required.
Assist with patient flow by booking transport in advance to support timely and efficient discharges.
Ensure compliance with Trust policies, including confidentiality, health and safety, incident reporting, and maintaining a safe and secure environment.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a welcoming, efficient, and patient-focused ward environment while supporting clinical staff in delivering outstanding care.

We are seeking an organised and proactive Ward Clerk to join our Respiratory ward at Wexham Park Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This ward is a busy acute respiratory and general medical ward with 38 beds, providing high-quality care to patients with a range of complex conditions.
