Full Job Description

We work closely with the local authority with the aim to end local homelessness. We offer a personalised approach to working with individuals to manage risk and reduce associated harm from substance use and multiple exclusion. Our mission goes beyond simply providing shelter; we strive to build a community where everyone has access to safe, secure housing and the support they need to thrive.

You will be a compassionate yet assertive individual with a strong understanding of the complex needs of vulnerable individuals. You're capable of creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere while effectively handling any challenges that arise. Your dedication to trauma-informed care, combined with a focus on safety and client well-being, will make you a key contributor to our supportive environment.

Key Qualities & Skills
Strong understanding of trauma, homelessness, and mental health issues
Skilled in active listening and building trust-based relationships
Decisive and capable of handling emergencies with a calm, problem-solving approach
Proficient in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour
Physically able to manage the demands of night shifts and conduct regular safety inspections

Turning Tides is committed to developing psychologically informed environments that encompass key concepts of this approach, including 'elastic tolerance;' and strengths-based working. As such, candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to work flexibly and creatively to create a culture that supports these values.

Turning Tides requires all staff and volunteers to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults. Successful applicants (dependent on role) are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
