If it is identified that you require sponsorship to undertake this role your application may be withdrawn The Violence Reduction Team within Staffordshire Police work with children and young people who have been identified as involved in, or at risk of being involved in serious violence and/or exploitation. It benefits from the expertise of partners in local authorities, public health, criminal justice, sports, education, and policing in order to take on a collaborative approach towards preventing and reducing violence. This role will sit within the VRT team in Staffordshire Police (Stafford Police Station) and will aim to offer:

  • Advice, teaching and supervision to police colleagues
  • Assessment/formulation of an individual's difficulties
  • Dependant on experience and training - offer interventions to individuals with more complex needs
  • Liaison, signposting and referrals to secondary and primary services, The Practitioner will be responsible for providing the service using a stepped model:
  • Indirect Psychological Formulation and Consultation
  • Collaborate with police colleagues in selections and referrals
  • Offer formulation and advice to colleagues on specific cases who are not indicated as ready for structured psychological intervention, but are open to the wider VRT team
  • Support and Engagement Intervention - for service users with increased complexity or
  • Deliver person-centred intervention following a collaborative plan of care incorporating Psychoeducation, Motivational Interviewing, Emotional Regulation and other evidence-based/psychologically informed interventions
  • Structured Psychological Intervention
  • Deliver/facilitate change-focussed intervention to help prepare for onward referral
  • Reformulation and review of needs
  • Ongoing risk assessment, Assessment and formulation of the needs of the young people referred to the service
  • Where necessary, deliver short-term psychological therapies to people on caseload
  • Develop good therapeutic relationships with clients to improve their overall engagement with VRT
  • Complete and contribute to robust risk assessments and risk management plan
  • Deliver and promote positive risk taking, where appropriate
  • Visa eligibility notice: The UK Home Office has imposed an emergency brake on specific visa routes. + Skilled Worker visas cannot currently be issued to Afghan nationals. + Study visas cannot currently be issued to nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar or Sudan.
