Full Job Description
As a Volunteering Project Officer, you will lead the co-ordination, planning, support and administration of our school-based Aspirations programme, which provides employability support to enable children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities to reach their full potential. You will also co-ordinate the York Cares partnership with The Place, a University of York project aimed at addressing the attainment gap in the Westfield area. The role involves close liaison with employers, schools, and community partners to develop opportunities and recruit employee-volunteers, whilst managing vital administration regarding safeguarding and health and safety.
- Experience of working with schools (both primary and secondary) and employers, particularly in the private sector
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with businesses and community partners
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise your own workload and meet deadlines
- Experience of using social media channels and working effectively as part of a team
- A flexible approach to working hours and locations, driven by a genuine enthusiasm for volunteering.
Appointment of the successful candidate will be conditional on a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The University strives to be diverse and inclusive - a place where we can ALL be ourselves. We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University. We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum (essential) criteria for each position will be offered an interview.
