Reach is here to help when things don't go as expected. Please explain why you are reporting an issue with this volunteer, organisation or opportunity, and our team will contact you within five working days. Women and girls... Climate action Education +5 more Read more about Team KenyaWhat will you be doing? You will liaise with trustees and any lead volunteers to ensure we have the necessary resources to deliver our current strategy. You will support volunteers in their roles as required and maintain accurate records for trustees. You will develop good relationships with lead volunteers and help them to communicate and network with each other. A visit to Kenya to see Twende Pamoja's projects in action and how truly impactful they are is highly recommended. This is especially important as it will allow you to experience staying at Karibuni Eco-Cottages - the hub of Twende Pamoja's exciting new social enterprise developments and other innovative projects and also experience for yourself life in this isolated but beautiful part of western Kenya., As a small, volunteer led charity, we rely on trustees to support the implementation of our strategy. This is a varied role with oversight of multiple areas:

  • We are recruiting new volunteers and a volunteer coordinator to support specific areas of our strategy - digital, social enterprise, communications and engagement need someone to maintain an overview of our volunteer structure as it develops.
  • You will help ensure that all volunteers understand out approach and how we work, as well as the potential and importance of the Karibuni social enterprise strategy, which will underpin everything we do.
  • Through supporting the work of our volunteers, you will play a crucial role in driving real change and transforming the lives of a small rural community in western Kenya.
  • Working with our volunteers, you will help promote the impact of our partner organisation's work in Kenya and by doing so increase our reach and income in the UK.

We are keen to hear from people with experience of working with volunteers. An interest in global issues such as economic and environmental sustainability and climate change and how these can be addressed on a small scale by local communities is essential. Ideally you will have
  • A successful track record in strategy development and implementation
  • Experience of working at a senior management / leadership level
  • Good people management skills and a collaborative approach to working
  • The capacity to work flexibly to ensure volunteers are supported and remain engaged with the charity
  • Experience of working with others who have a shared passion for making a difference.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of our charity
  • Ability to work at a strategic and visionary level whilst understanding the detail and complexities of working with volunteers and the influencing skills needed to bring people along with plans
  • Strong communicator
  • Ability to analyse risks and opportunities, and take a balanced approach to both
  • Extensive networks, and a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate
  • Willingness to make a long term commitment to Team Kenya and Twende Pamoja
