Full Job Description

We are seeking Befrienders to provide companionship and promote social interaction for adult patients at Intermediate Care. This post will be working with the Mental Health Workers within Intermediate Care Team, and therefore working primarily with patients with dementia or cognitive impairment, but also with patients experiencing low mood or are not receiving visitors during they admission.,

  • Providing companionship and promoting social interaction with a range of people, primarily older adults.
  • Providing social support by encouraging and engaging with patients, for example engaging in conversation, reading the newspaper, playing cards, etc.
  • Supporting the completion of "This is me" documents.
  • Providing encouragement to patient support patients to participation in group activities, for example supporting with art/craft activities.
  • Volunteering alongside Mental Health Occupational Therapy Team.
