Full Job Description

Volunteer

Abbeyfield
Wigton CA7, UK

NEW

Just like Richard Carr-Gomm, Abbeyfield Living Society founder who dedicated his time to combating loneliness in older adults, you too can make a lasting impact. Over 60 years later, our mission thrives thanks to the hundreds of incredible volunteers who bring their unique skills and personalities to our houses and homes.

At Abbeyfield Living Society, our amazing volunteers are the heart of what we do. Without their dedication, many older people in our communities could feel isolated and alone. But with your time, you can change that

Role: Volunteer

Location: Wigton

What skills and experience do I need?

The most important thing you bring is yourself! We have roles for everyone, regardless of experience. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm are all we need to get started. Of course, if you have specific skills you'd like to share, let us know! We're always looking for ways to make the most of your talents.

What support and training will I be given?

Hit the ground running with confidence! We provide a comprehensive induction program tailored to your specific volunteer role. This includes all the training and support you need to feel comfortable and empowered to make a difference from day one

Will I be invited for an interview?

After you apply, we'll invite you for an informal interview to get to know each other better. It's a chance for you to learn about the role and for us to see if you'd be a great fit for the team

Do I need to supply references or undergo a DBS check?

The safety and wellbeing of our residents is our top priority. Our volunteering roles require two references and a DBS check.

About You it's not just about the skills you bring - it's about the impact you make. Your time and companionship can mean the world to someone who might be feeling lonely or isolated.

Don't have specific skills? No problem! We're happy to train you and help you discover new talents. The most important thing is your willingness to share your time and make a connection. Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
